Check the blog post from Microsoft about what’s new in SCCM 1802. If you have installed SCCM 1802, you can see lot of improvements in software center.
SCCM ConfigMgr 1802 Software Center Enhancements
Some of the SCCM ConfigMgr 1802 software center enhancements include :-
- Install multiple applications in Software Center.
- Hide Installed applications in Software Center.
- Hide unapproved applications in Software Center.
- Software Center shows user additional compliance information.
- Use Software Center to browse and install user-available applications on Azure AD-joined devices
Install multiple applications in Software Center
Earlier one could install one application at once through software center. With SCCM 1802 update, the end users can now install multiple applications in software center. To do so launch software center. First of all enable multi-select mode by clicking the icon (see the screenshot below). This allows you to select multiple applications. When you enable multi-select mode, you see check-box in front of app. Choose the apps that you want to install and click Install Selected. The apps will installed one after the other.
Hide Installed and Approved applications in Software Center
The feature to hide installed and approved apps in software center was seen in one of the tech preview version. Finally this feature is now packed in SCCM update 1802. Open the client settings and click Software Center. Click Customize button.
On Software Center Customization box, below the preview there are two options.
- Hide unapproved applications in Software Center.
- Hide installed applications in software.
If decide to hide unapproved and installed apps in software center, select them and click OK.
Additional compliance information in Software Center
Software Center now shows the user the Device Health Attestation setting that is not compliant. More info about this is here.
Install user-available applications on Azure AD-joined devices
This is one of the good feature in SCCM 1802. Suppose that you deploy applications as available to users. The users can now browse and install them through Software Center on Azure AD devices. Before you use this feature there are some prerequisites. Most of all ensure that Use new Software Center is set to Yes under computer agent.
Once I select to hide installed apps in Software Center, will they still appear in the Installation Status tab?
I have a user who cannot click the OK button after selecting a package in the Software Center to download. Any idea why?
When you say we can install multiple applications at once, is there a limit for this ?.
I am not sure Rajesh but as such there is no limit.
Wow awesome post. Quick question, is there is a specific size of logo that we have to specify in software center ?. Also can we choose our own color code in software center, i mean hex code ?.
Hi Rajesh, the logo that you specify in software center should have max dimensions of 100×400 pixels. The file size cannot be larger than 750kb. You can use hex to RGB converter and input those values.
