Let’s learn how to resolve Microsoft Edge Error Code 3 (0X800706B5). On my Windows 11 PC, I updated my Microsoft Edge browser to the latest version and encountered error code 3 along with 0X800706B5.

By default, Microsoft Edge automatically updates when you restart your browser. In my case, the browser was updated with an error. An error occurred while checking for updates. We couldn’t create that component (error code 3: 0X800706B5system level).

After encountering this error, some of the features of the Edge browser did not seem to work. For example, I was unable to pin the tabs in Edge, modify any of the settings, etc. This error is not related to a specific version of the Edge browser and can occur on any version.

The reason why you encounter Microsoft error code 3 (0X800706B5) is due to corrupted system files. To resolve this error, you must run SFC (System File Checker) to repair it. Here’s how you do that:

  • Click on Start and type “Command Prompt” in the search bar.
  • Right-click on Command Prompt in the search results.
  • Select “Run as administrator” from the context menu.
  • In the cmd window, type sfc /scannow and press Enter.

Wait for the SFC scan to complete. In my case, the SFC scan completed with the following message: “Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them.”
