Unable to load the Configuration Manager Community hub

When you install Configuration Manager 2010, clicking Community Hub shows an a error. Unable to load the Configuration Manager Community hub.

The Configuration Manager community hub is a place where ConfigMgr administrators can share their useful content. This includes scripts, reports, applications, tasks sequences and Configuration Items.

I am currently running Configuration Manager 2010 on Server 2019. After the ConfigMgr 2010 upgrade, I wasn’t able to load the Community Hub. Let’s look at the steps to fix this issue.

After upgrading to Configuration Manager 2010, the Community Hub on Windows Server OS doesn’t load. Accessing Community hub shows the below message or error in the Configuration Manager console.

Unable to load the Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager Community hub. Thank you for your interest in the Community hub.

Ensure your machine has the following prerequisites :-

  • Windows 10 version 17110 or higher.
  • .Net Framework version 4.6 or higher.
  • The Community hub is not currently supported on servers. A remote Windows 10 client is required.

While it clearly states that the Community Hub isn’t currently supported on servers, it is not true. Microsoft recently allowed Community Hub to work on Server SKU’s. However it only works when you install the Custom Console Extensions.

To install Custom Console Extensions in Configuration Manager, click the Bell icon on the top right corner of the console. On the Configuration Manager Notifications tab, click Install Custom Console Extensions.

The Configuration Manager console closes and now you should see the console extensions updating.

The update is complete. Click Close.

The Configuration Manager console opens and finally you can load the Community Hub on your Server OS.
