In this tutorial, I am going to show you how you can turn off battery optimization in the company portal app installed on Android devices. This is a manual procedure that requires a few simple steps to complete.
Battery optimization on Android devices helps to conserve battery power by managing how apps behave when the device is not connected to a power source. It is turned on by default, but disabling it may impact the device’s battery life.
When the Company Portal app is enabled with battery optimization, you may notice delay in receiving notifications, app configurations, policy updates from Intune. In such cases, you may have to manually sync Intune policies on the Android device to get the latest configuration updates.
Microsoft recommends turning off the battery optimization feature to improve the overall performance of work or school apps that regularly sync email or data.
Company Portal: Turn off battery optimization
- Launch the Company Portal app on your Android device and sign in.
- In the top-left corner, tap the menu and tap Settings.
- Scroll to Battery Optimization and tap TURN OFF.
Battery Saver options in Android for Apps
On some Android phones, you may have to tap Allow to confirm that you want to turn battery optimization off. Whereas on some Android tablets, you may be presented with some extra battery saver options to choose from.
- No restrictions: Battery saver doesn’t restrict any app’s activity.
- Battery saver (recommended): The recommended option where battery saver will treat important apps selectively.
- Restrict background apps: Closes the apps after 10 minutes of background activity.
- Restrict background activity: Apps will be closed to save power.
From the above options, selecting ‘No restrictions‘ will disable the battery optimization for the company portal app. After making the above changes, relaunch the company portal app. You will now receive all the communications from Intune without any delays now.
