In this article, we’ll show you how you can show seconds in Windows 11 clock. On Windows 11, you can now display the seconds in the System Tray clock, and this option can be enabled under the taskbar settings.

Microsoft recently released the Moment 3 update for Windows 11 and included a crucial feature that Windows users had long requested: Show seconds in Windows 11 clock on the taskbar. Although it’s not turned on by default, it can help you keep track of time more precisely. To activate it, you simply need to make a brief trip to the settings app.

The system clock appears on the bottom right of the Windows 11 taskbar, displaying the current time. Many users had to use either third-party tool or registry workaround to display the seconds along with the clock. This is no longer necessary because the taskbar settings in Windows 11 comes with a separate option to show seconds on the clock in the taskbar.

The feature to display the seconds in system tray clock was first added with Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 25247. As per Microsoft, we are introducing the capability to show seconds in the clock on the system tray. This feature can be enabled by toggling the option listed under Settings > Personalization > Taskbar in the Taskbar behavior section.

After making the above changes, the seconds in the system tray clock is displayed along with the system time. However, it appears that this feature may wind up using more power, as Microsoft has placed the (uses more power) comment next to the tick. As a result, keep this in mind.

If you want to hide the seconds in the system tray clock, go to taskbar settings and under taskbar behaviors, uncheck the option “Show seconds in the system tray clock“. If you are unable to find the option show seconds in Windows 11 Clock on the taskbar missing, ensure you update your Windows 11 to the latest build.
