How to Install WebView2 Extension for SCCM Console
If you’re looking to install WebView2 extension for SCCM console, this guide is for you. The WebView2 console extension is required for displaying features such as custom tabs in the Software Center.
The WebView2 admin console extension was also required by the Community Hub, but this dependency was removed because, starting with version 2303, there will be no Community Hub node in the admin console. It is sad to see this feature removed but here is why Microsoft deprecated the Community Hub feature in Configuration Manager.
The Console Extensions node is located under Administration > Overview > Updates and Servicing. Here is where you can find all the extensions that you’ve installed for Configuration Manager. Most of the extension settings, such as uninstallation, disabling notifications, and approval, are done from here. For more information, refer to the guide on managing console extensions in SCCM.
WebView2 extension is missing in SCCM Console
If this WebView2 extension is missing or not installed, you’ll see the following notification when you launch the Configuration Manager console:
These custom console extensions are available: WebView2 extension
The reason why you get the notification is that sometimes after you upgrade the SCCM console, the WebView2 extension fails to reinstall. Hence, you will be prompted to install the WebView2 console extension again. You’ll have to install this extension to display the custom tabs in the Software Center for users.
Note: Starting in Configuration Manager version 2111, you can require a console extension to be installed before it connects to the site. After you require an extension, it automatically installs on the local console the next time an admin launches it.
