In this tutorial, I will show you how you can add a border to every screenshot captured with the Snipping tool. Not only can you add colored borders to Snipping Tool captures, but you can also specify the thickness of the border. Let’s explore about this useful feature.
The Snipping tool app on Windows 11 allows you to take screenshots, edit them, and add notes. This app has been constantly updated with new features, and it is probably the only free capture tool you will need in the future.
Until now, Windows 11 users had a big problem with using the Snipping tool: they had trouble adding colored borders to the pictures they took. Microsoft has finally introduced this option in the Snipping tool settings.
Earlier, Microsoft had introduced a feature called Snip Outline, which automatically added an outline to each snip. However, this feature was enhanced and renamed to add a border to each screenshot. Let’s see how to enable this option.
Add a border to Screenshot in Snipping Tool
Here are the steps to add colored borders to Snipping Tool captures in Windows 11:
Step 1: Click Start and type ‘Snipping Tool‘ and from the search result, select the app to launch.
Step 2: Click on the three horizontal dots in the upper-right corner of the Snipping Tool app and select Settings.
Step 3: Scroll down to find the setting ‘Add border to each screenshot‘. Turn on this option to automatically add the border to every screenshot. Next, click on the color box and choose the border color. Lastly, you can set the thickness of the borders surrounding images by adjusting the slider.
There you have it. The Snipping tool now automatically adds a colored border to the screenshots. If the border is too thick or thin, you can adjust the thickness by going to the Snipping tool settings.
Disable add border to each screenshot
If you want to disable the colored borders for snipping tool captures, go to the app settings and turn off the option ‘add border to each screenshot.’
